CAMBRIDGE SCHOOLS OPEN AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND
The Cambridge Schools Open is the official schools tournament of the University of Cambridge Union. Regional qualifying rounds are held across the globe with teams fighting it out to qualify for the finals at the University of Cambridge.
DATES AND LOGISTICS
The ANZ Qualifying rounds will be held on 27-28 January, in a hybrid format (with an in person location in Sydney as well as access over zoom). The tournament is open to students aged 13-18 but we recommend particiaption from students in year 9 and above.
Schools can enter a maximum of 4 teams (comprising of two members) and the competition will be in British Parliamentary style. Speakers' Corner will run a seminar on British Parliamentary Debating with one of our expert coaches, which is included in the registration fee of $360 per team. Waivers available for teams facing financial hardship.
Schools can either directly enter teams or pass on details to their students who can independently register (so long as the students are from the same school). Speakers' Corner Australia will handle the administration of the competition and little assistance is expected of school staff.
