Debate Holiday Camp
Years: Year 5–12
Experience Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Our Spring Holiday Debate Camp gives experienced debaters the opportunity to develop their debating skills through interactive exercises, topic exploration and mock debates.
Flexible Attendance:
Students can attend individual days or multiple sessions, with different content covered each day. Those looking for a more intensive experience can attend for a full week, or both weeks where available.

Beginners Debate Camp
Years: Year 4–8
Experience Level: Beginner — little to no previous debating experience required
New to debating?
Our Beginners Debate Camp is designed to give students a friendly and structured introduction to debating over two days.
Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of debating and build their confidence putting these skills into practice. The program is suitable for students who are completely new to debating, as well as those who have only had a small amount of previous experience.
Students will be split into age-appropriate younger and older groups to ensure the activities and level of difficulty are suitable for them.

Camp Times
10:00am–3:00pm each day, including a lunch break. (Don't forget to pack and bring your lunch!)
Program Structure
This is a two-day program, with the content designed to build across both days.
Attendance on both days is strongly recommended so students can get the most out of the program!
What will I learn?

How debating works — the basic rules of debating, team structure, strategies, and public speaking techniques.

Speech structure — how to organise a clear and persuasive debating speech.

Argument structure — how to develop an idea into a logical and convincing argument.

Substantive material and rebuttal — how to build your own case while also identifying, challenging and responding to the opposing team’s arguments.

Preparation and case construction — how to analyse a topic, brainstorm ideas and work with teammates to prepare a debate.

Speaking positions — understanding the different responsibilities of each speaker and how speeches work together as a team.

Types of arguments — an introduction to principle and practical arguments, and how to use both effectively.

Putting it all together — students will use what they have learned in a showcase debate, giving them the chance to practise their new skills in a full debate.

Interested in the beginners camp, but for an older student?​​
Please fill in our Expression of Interest form with your child’s year group, preferred availability, and preferred class location.
Alternatively, you’re welcome to email Anastasia at sales@speakerscornerau.com with the same details.
If there is enough interest, we may be able to organise a small private holiday class for Year 9+ beginners.
Early Public Speaking Program
Years: Year 1–3
Experience Level: Beginner — no previous public speaking experience required
Our Early Public Speaking Program is a fun and supportive introduction to public speaking for younger students.
Through age-appropriate speaking activities, games and guided practice, students will begin developing the confidence to share their ideas, speak clearly in front of others and communicate with greater confidence.
The program is designed especially for younger students, with plenty of opportunities to participate, practise and build confidence in a positive and encouraging environment.

Program Structure
This is a one-day introductory program designed specifically for students in Years 1–3.
Students will take part in a range of short, engaging activities throughout the day, giving them opportunities to practise speaking while developing their confidence and communication skills.
Who Is This Program For?
This program is ideal for Year 1–3 students who are new to public speaking, including children who may feel a little nervous speaking in front of a group, as well as those who already enjoy talking and performing and would like to further develop their presentation skills, critical thinking and self-expression.
No previous public speaking experience is required.
